Meet Colossal: A Gentle Giant Seeking a Loving Home |
This 3 year old, 110 pound sweetheart needs a patient and understanding family |
Introducing Colossal, a big-hearted boy weighing in at 110 pounds and approximately 3 years old.
He arrived at The Animal Foundation on August 19, 2025, after being surrendered by his previous owner.
Since his arrival, Colossal has been struggling to adjust to the shelter environment.
He exhibits signs of fear and kennel distress, often appearing very scared and hesitant to approach people.
He tends to avoid the leash and can display defensive behaviors when individuals move too quickly around him.
Currently, he does not seem to be leash-trained and requires a slower, more patient approach.
Additionally, Colossal shows anxious behaviors such as panting, pacing, and jumping.
His previous owner mentioned that he was friendly with other dogs but had never been around cats.
They also noted that he is nervous around strangers and frightened by fireworks.
Colossal would thrive in a patient, quiet, and understanding home where he can decompress and gradually become comfortable with social and environmental changes.
Providing him with a calm and supportive environment will be essential for his well-being.
For those interested in adopting Colossal, he is currently located at The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas.
Given his special considerations, potential adopters are encouraged to visit the shelter to meet him in person and discuss his needs with the adoption counselors.
In an effort to address overcrowding, The Animal Foundation has waived adoption fees for adult cats and large dogs throughout August 2025.
This initiative is part of the nationwide Clear the Shelters campaign, running from August 1 to August 31, 2025.
During this period, adoption fees are waived for adult cats (6 months and older) and large dogs (6 months and older, weighing more than 30 pounds).
Additionally, on August 30 and 31, 2025, adoption fees will be waived for all pets in the shelter, including puppies and kittens.
For more information on adoption events and promotions, visit The Animal Foundation's website.
Adopting Colossal during this time not only provides him with a loving home but also helps alleviate the shelter's overcrowding.
If you or someone you know is interested in giving Colossal the patient and understanding home he deserves, please visit The Animal Foundation at 655 N. Mojave Road, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
